Michal Nulíček specializes in legal advice concerning corporate and commercial law, competition law and regulation, IPMT and the protection of personal data. He has further extensive experience in representing clients in arbitration and litigation.
Michal received legal education at the Law Faculty of Charles University and Cardiff University, where he studied mainly English common law. Subsequently, he completed postgraduate studies in international business law at the prestigious Central European University, where he finished as the top student in the class and received an LL.M.
Professionally, before joining ROWAN LEGAL, Michal Nulíček worked for 10 years as a senior lawyer at Hogan Lovells, the international law firm .
Michal is involved in intricate Czech and international acquisition transactions and the provision of legal advice concerning competition, insolvency and regulatory law.
He has experience representing clients before both the Czech authorities and courts (including the Supreme, Supreme Administrative and Constitutional Courts), and also before the European courts. The value of disputes in which Michal has represented his clients has reached several tens of billions CZK.
Michal is very active in publishing and has participated, for instance, in the creation of the Navigator for Arbitration published by ASPI.
He is also an arbitrator for consumer disputes registered with the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic.
Consulting services to the North Bohemia Water Company regarding corporate aspects related to a project ensuring the governance and operation of the water infrastructure after 2020.
Consulting services to an outstanding Polish air carrier in connection with the conclusion of the purchase and subsequent lease of ART aircraft from Czech Airlines, including negotiations with the Civil Aviation Authority.
Represented Alstom in proceedings before the Office for Protection of Competition, the Regional Court, Supreme Court, Constitutional Court, the European Court of Justice regarding an alleged cartel. Subsequently, a fine in the amount of approximately CZK 1 billion was repealed by the Supreme Administrative Court.
Represented the Czech subsidiary of a major truck manufacturer in connection with proceedings before the Office for Protection of Competition regarding the possible abuse of dominant position.
Consulting services to the significant worldwide financial group regarding management of clients’ receivables and related questions on personal data protection.
Consulting services to the Alstom regarding the protection of personal data, the introduction of a whistle-blowing project, regulatory and related requirements and representation before the Office for Personal Data Protection.
Legal advice to the significant worldwide financial group regarding analysis of the merchant acquirer process and the statute of each of the participating companies according to the Czech law on personal data protection with preparation and revision of the related documentation.
Represented a Polish petrochemical company, in 2014, in a dispute with the most important Czech agrochemicals firm in a dispute over the cancellation of an arbitration award worth over 17 billion CZK. The case was decided in favour of the client.
